Murdaugh Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murder of Wife, Son; LAPD Too Busy for Certain Calls: Union

South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Friday, a day after he was convicted of murder in the shooting deaths of his wife and son.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) can’t respond to certain calls anymore because it’s understaffed, according to a police union. Union leaders say various types of calls should be diverted to unarmed forces instead.

Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa) has introduced a bill requiring a debt ceiling increase to come with a matching spending cut. The aim is to keep government spending under control.
