Israel Strikes Senior Hamas Leaders in Qatar; Virginia, Boston to Hold Elections Tuesday

Israel has conducted a strike against senior Hamas leadership in Doha, Qatar, according to posts by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Qatari Foreign Ministry. “The IDF and [Israel Security Agency] conducted a precise strike targeting the senior leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization,” the IDF said in a statement on X, without confirming the location of the attack.

Voters in Virginia will choose a successor to the late Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly of the 11th Congressional District in a special election on Tuesday. Democrat James Walkinshaw is going up against Republican Stewart Whitson.

Boston residents are also heading to the polls to vote for the city's next mayor. Incumbent Mayor Michelle Wu and nonprofit leader Josh Kraft, son of Patriots owner Robert Kraft, are expected to be the two main contenders in Tuesday's preliminary election. Voters will then decide in November between the top two candidates.
