US Will Drop Ukraine Peace Efforts If No Progress in Coming Days: Rubio; Meloni Meets Vance in Rome
The United States is optimistic it can put an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, Vice President JD Vance said on Friday as he met Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for the second time in 24 hours. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States may “move on” from trying to secure a Russia–Ukraine peace deal if there is no progress in the coming days. “It’s not our war,” Rubio said. “We have other priorities to focus on.” He said the U.S. government will decide its course “in a matter of days.”
