Trump Threatens Additional 50% Tariff on China; Netanyahu Meets With Trump Over Tariffs, Gaza
President Donald Trump on Monday said he may impose an additional 50 percent tariff on Chinese imports if Beijing does not withdraw its retaliatory levies on U.S. goods. And the three major U.S. stock markets opened lower but saw gains later in the morning amid uncertainty over recent tariff announcements.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet with Trump on Monday. Netanyahu said on April 6 that he hopes the president will ease the tariffs he imposed on Israel. Netanyahu said in a statement that the talks will also cover the Israeli hostages still held in Gaza some 18 months after the Oct. 7, 2023, attack, and how Israel proposes to achieve victory in Gaza
