Trump Says Gaza Hostages Should Be Released on Monday or Tuesday; Celebrations in Gaza and Israel After Cease-Fire Announced

President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the Gaza hostages should be released on Monday or Tuesday and that he hopes to attend a signing ceremony in Egypt. Trump opened a White House Cabinet meeting to discuss the deal reached on Wednesday. He said he believed it would lead to "lasting peace."

Palestinians and the families of Israeli hostages celebrated after news of the pact between Israel and Hamas to end the war in Gaza and return home all the Israeli hostages, both living and dead. Israeli Prime Minister's Office spokeswoman Shosh Bedrosian said that a cease-fire would take effect in Gaza "within 24 hours" of a cabinet meeting on Thursday.
