Israelis Attacked in Amsterdam; European Leaders Urge Trump on Russia-Ukraine War

Police in Amsterdam said on Friday that five people were hospitalized and 62 arrested after anti-Semitic rioters attacked Israeli supporters after a soccer match. Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said he was "deeply ashamed" about the attacks, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Dutch government must ensure the well-being of all Israelis in the Netherlands.

Following President-elect Donald Trump's electoral victory, top European leaders, including European Council President Charles Michel and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, called on Trump to continue aiding Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. Other European leaders, however, such as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, expressed their hope for Trump to broker a peace deal that would bring an end to the conflict.

Southern California firefighters have made progress against a wildfire that has destroyed 132 structures, allowing some people to return to sort through the charred remains of their homes. The Mountain Fire started on Wednesday morning in Ventura County, and had grown to 32 square miles. It was 7 percent contained by Friday morning.
