Iran Threatens Response After US Strikes Nuclear Sites; Israel Struck Tehran's Evin Prison
Iran said on Monday it has expanded the range of legitimate targets for its armed forces after the United States attacked three Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday. Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya central military headquarters, said, “Mr Trump, the gambler, you may start this war, but we will be the ones to end it.”
The State Department has issued a “worldwide caution” for U.S. citizens living abroad. In a Sunday alert, the department warned of potential demonstrations against U.S. citizens and interests around the world. “The conflict between Israel and Iran has resulted in disruptions to travel and periodic closure of airspace across the Middle East,” the bulletin stated, as it called on U.S. citizens worldwide to exercise “increased caution.”
Israel hit Iranian government targets in Tehran on Monday in a series of strikes. The attack came after Iran launched missiles and drones at Israel. Israel’s Defense Ministry said it hit targets that included the notorious Evin Prison in the Iranian capital and the security headquarters of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guards. The Israeli military also confirmed it struck roads around Iran’s Fordow enrichment facility to obstruct access to the site.
